Susan Derrick

Founder

As the founder and lead advisor at Rise and Achieve College Consulting, I bring years of experience guiding high school students and their families through one of life’s most exciting and sometimes overwhelming transitions: the journey to college. I’ve successfully supported students through every stage of the admissions process, from helping them discover their best-fit schools and guiding them in crafting standout essays to navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities. My students have earned acceptances to top universities, including Princeton, UCLA, Georgetown, and NYU, to name a few.  However,  what matters most to me is helping each student find the right path that aligns with their unique goals, values, and potential.

What inspires me daily?  After the tragic loss of my teenage son, I sought a new path. One that allowed me to bring purpose, compassion, and guidance to high school students and their families. Earning my certification in College Counseling from the University of California, San Diego opened the door to a second career as a College and Career Advisor at a public high school, where I supported hundreds of students through the complex college planning process. My earlier experience leading global event marketing teams for Salesforce, Hewlett-Packard, and BMC Software honed my leadership and communication skills. All tools I now use to help students rise and achieve their goals with confidence and heart.

My mission is simple: to empower students to rise with confidence, and to give parents peace of mind knowing their child is supported, informed, and prepared for success beyond high school.
